Sure takes a lot of work as I add strips of paper one layer at a time on each item, then I have to wait for it to dry between applying more layers. So it's going to be around 8 days to the start of the finishing - the fun bit!

If I'm happy with the results I intend to make a series of these hand made plates and bowls in 2009.

Here's a pic of one of the paintings I did recently which has inspired this experiment. I'll post more news up with details of my first result as soon as it's finished.

Barry

New Sketching Adventures Newsletter just launched

The December 2008 issue of Sketching Adventures Newsletter is now available online and in printed format. You can see some of them here www.crimsonsalamander.com (they are the first 5 or 6 on display). I'm now focusing my efforts on smaller works.

Spent some time this week looking out some of the many drawings and sketches. As a group, we have set aside one of our three galleries to display all of our smaller works. It's been dubbed the Drawing Room. It's great because the plan is we will keep adding to this gallery bit by bit, as opposed to our other galleries which require a complete rehanging on a regular basis.

This means we now have a gallery with loads of ever evolving work on display, which makes it more interesting for our visitors. All work in this gallery is small and easy to afford, which can only be good news for everyone. So come along and have a look.

Meanwhile it's out with the paints for me.
